Pioneer is the first aftermarket car audio company to introduce Voice Control on their new AVIC “F” Series of GPS Navigation products. The new AVIC “F” series units, the
AVICF500BT,
AVICF700BT and
AVICF90BT, allow you to control your iPod and Bluetooth functions via voice control. The in-dash units, the AVICF700BT and AVICF90BT, allow you to switch between the other sources you may have installed such as
XM Satellite Radio or
Sirius Satellite Radio and
HD Radio via voice control.
The built-in voice control works using simple, conversational, voice recognition technology, so you can use commands such as “play Sirius Satellite Radio”, “call home”, or “play Dave Matthews band”. This allows you to safely control several key functions of the unit without taking your hands off the steering wheel or your eyes off the road. Need a live traffic update? The “F” series units also have a built-in MSN Direct tuner that will give you real time access to information such as live traffic, gas prices movie times and more.
The “F” Series
GPS mapping software is stored internally on flash memory, so there are no map discs to take in and out, scratch or worse, lose. The mapping software being stored on flash memory allows the
navigation to be “always on”, meaning you can be listening to a CD while using the navigation at the same time. The way this works is you set your navigation destination, and then start listening to one of your audio sources. When the next navigation maneuver comes up, the navigation will override your audio to give you the next directional command. The “F” Series also feature TTS [text-to-speech] technology that will clearly pronounce driving directions and street names, so instead of hearing “right turn in 1/4 mile” you will hear “right turn on First Street in ¼ mile”.
The built-in
iPod Direct Control gives you fast, easy control of your regular or video
. The iPod control display on the “F” series screen looks like an actual , so it is easy to control via the touch screen or you can control your iPod using simple, conversational voice recognition commands.
The new Built-in Bluetooth is powered by
Parrot, one of the premier Bluetooth manufacturers around. This gives the Bluetooth in Pioneers AVIC “F” series improved clarity plus easy hands free set up and operation. You can control the Bluetooth function using voice commands simple, conversational voice recognition commands such as ‘call home” or “call Dave”
The built-in MSN Direct tuner offers you real time access to information such as current local traffic conditions, gas prices, movie times and weather updates. There is a monthly subscription fee for this service.
