ZR650-CSI 6-1/2" Evolution™ ZR 2-Way Component Car Speakers

Featuring two 6-1/2" subwoofers and two 1" tweeters, this combination utilizes each type of speaker to its full potential, filling your car with exceptional sound at high and low volumes. The ZR650-CSi subwoofers are constructed in custom-engineered, proprietary cast aluminum baskets, providing a maximum rear open area and a state-of-the-art cooling system. This new range of reference component systems fully demonstrates JL Audio's obsession with accurate sound reproduction. Custom-engineered, proprietary cast aluminum woofer baskets were designed to provide maximum rear open area while also incorporating JL Audio's patented Elevated Frame cooling system. This cooling technology, shared with JL Audio's W7 subwoofers, allows air to flow directly across the top-plate and onto the voice coil windings to greatly improve linearity at all listening levels.

Key Technologies of JL Audio's ZR Component Speaker System:

Tweeter
The ZR tweeter delivers sparkling detail and effortless dynamics thanks to carefully balanced design and precision German assembly.

An ultra light aluminum dome is delicately suspended with a synthetic rubber, positive roll surround to damp fatiguing ringing and preserve high-frequency definition. A Nomex voice coil former is used to further reduce mass.

The high-energy neodymium wafer magnet and machined field structures provide a dynamically stable field for the low-mass voice coil.

To ensure optimum system performance, each pair of ZR tweeters is tested and matched to within 1 dB of their reference curve.

A very shallow flush-mount system makes it easy to integrate the ZR tweeter into any vehicle interior while a unique, metallic accent around the grille edge gives it a touch of class. Two additional mounting fixtures are also included for each tweeter.

Mid-Bass
Custom-engineered, proprietary cast aluminum woofer baskets were designed to provide maximum rear open area while also incorporating JL Audio's patented Elevated Frame cooling system. This cooling technology, shared with JL Audio's W7 and W6v2 subwoofers, allows air to flow directly across the top-plate and onto the voice coil windings to greatly improve linearity at all listening levels.

For the critical cone and suspension elements, JL Audio once again turned to their partners at Germany's Dr. Kurt Muller & Co., whose track record of consistency and meticulous quality control is very well established in the loudspeaker industry. The low mass, mineral-filled polypropylene cones and butyl rubber surrounds are inherently well damped to deliver an uncolored, neutral midrange without any artificial flavoring.

Within the DMA optimized woofer motor structure, CNC-machined back-plate, pole piece and top-plate elements offer a degree of precision not possible with conventional forged or stamped parts. The ultra-thin gauge voice coil is treated with proprietary, high-temperature adhesives and wound on an aluminum former to further improve thermal transfer, reliability and linearity at high power levels.

Crossover
An exceptional component system requires critical attention to crossover design and component specification. With the ZR series, JL Audio has pulled out all of the stops by offering more setup flexibility than ever before while using the highest quality capacitors, inductors and resistors.

Five tweeter level settings are selectable via jumper pins connected to a bank of super-premium, non-inductive, non-magnetic, 1% tolerance Mills™ resistors mounted to an extruded aluminum heat sink.

Feeding the tweeter is a second order Butterworth high-pass filter utilizing a top-quality, metallized polypropylene capacitor combined with a low loss, 16 gauge, air-core inductor.

The low-pass section features a first order filter with four levels of user definable midrange presence achieved via a custom-engineered, series-segmented, air-core inductor (the long, tubular structure in each ZR network). The midrange presence levels are selected via a heavy brass jumper bar mounted on each network's circuit board, permitting the user to tailor the response for a variety of mounting angles and listening environments.

Connections to each crossover network are made via protected, nickel-plated barrier strips with the option for standard or bi-wire / bi-amp input wiring (selectable with an internal jumper bar).

All of these quality components are enclosed in a newly designed, polycarbonate case with a classy metal ZR logo that will look at home in any high-end installation.
